Bursaries

  • Students may be considered for the following bursaries by completing the general bursary application. Only one application is necessary to be considered for all bursaries.

 

The Ian H. Perrigo Bursary

One or more awards are given to second year students in the Department of Computer Science.

SIMBA TECHNOLOGIES INC. SCHOLARSHIP

Two scholarships are awarded to undergraduate students who are entering 2nd, 3rd or 4th year in the Bachelor of Science Major or Honours program in Computer Science or the Bachelor of Software Engineering program. Preference will be given to female students. Applications for the scholarships should reference volunteer service in the community and/or demonstrated leadership in or outside of the classroom. Application forms are available from the Faculty of Engineering and must be returned to the Dean’s Office, Faculty of Engineering, by April 30th.

  • In-Course Scholarship - No Application Required

 

Applications from students are NOT required for scholarships listed in this section.

Unless otherwise indicated, recipients are selected by the Senate Committee on Awards upon the recommendations of the Computer Science department.

These scholarships are governed by the general regulations for scholarships, medals and prizes.

Scholarships marked with an asterisk (*) are administered by the University of Victoria Foundation.

 

* COMPUTER SCIENCE CO-OP REPORT PRIZE

A prize of $100 is awarded to a student deemed to have submitted an outstanding work term report in a Computer Science cooperative degree program. Supported by contributors to the Computer Science 10th Anniversary Scholarship Fund.

 

* DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE 10TH ANNIVERSARY SCHOLARSHIP

A scholarship of at least $200 is awarded to an outstanding student who has achieved fourth year standing in a major, honours or combined Computer Science degree program.

 

LATITUDE GEOGRAPHICS SCHOLARSHIP FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

A scholarship of $1,000 is awarded to the undergraduate student in Computer Science who has the top GPA and who is entering 4th year. If the eligible student is already receiving multiple scholarships, the award will be given to another Computer Science student entering 4th year who also has a high GPA but is receiving less scholarship funding.

 

* THE JOHN THIPTHORPE MEMORIAL AWARD

An award of at least $725 is made to a student entering third year in an undergraduate program of Computer Science. The award is based on the student's academic achievement exhibited in the second year courses.
