Bursaries
- Students may be considered for the following bursaries by completing the general bursary application. Only one application is necessary to be considered for all bursaries.
BC Medical Services Foundation Health Sciences Bursary
Value: Varies | Number: Varies
One or more bursaries are awarded to undergraduate students in the Health Sciences at the University of Victoria. This includes the areas of Health Information Science, Nursing, Psychology, Sociology, Child & Youth Care.
The Winnifred M. Clark Bursary
Value: Varies | Number: 1
A bursary established by the Capital Regional Association for the Mentally Handicapped will be awarded annually to a needy student entering the fourth year of the Child Care program specialising in the study of mental retardation.
Kathleen Farthing, Martlet Chapter, IODE Bursary
Value: $1000 | Number: 1
A bursary of $1000 is awarded to a student who is a single parent in the School of Child and Youth Care. This is a one time award for the year 2005.
Benson McCallum Bursary
Value: $150 | Number: 1
A bursary of $150 is available to a student entering third or fourth year in the School of Child and Youth Care.
Oliver C. Wolsey Bursary Fund
Value: Varies | Number: 1
An award will be made annually to a student proceeding to year three or four in the School of Child and Youth Care who has demonstrated ability in dealing with severely handicapped children.

DARLENE SCOTT SCHOLARSHIP
One or more scholarships totaling $1,000 are awarded to academically outstanding undergraduate or graduate students in the School of Child and Youth Care. Preference will be given female students who have spent time away from school and are now returning to complete an academic degree.
In-Course

There are no In Course Scholarships that require application specific to Child and Youth Care

Applications from students are NOT required for scholarships listed in this section.
Unless otherwise indicated, recipients are selected by the Senate Committee on Awards upon the recommendations of the Child and Youth Care department.
These scholarships are governed by the general regulations for scholarships, medals and prizes.
Scholarships marked with an asterisk (*) are administered by the University of Victoria Foundation.
B.C. CHILD AND YOUTH CARE ASSOCIATION AWARD
One year's free membership in the Association is awarded to a graduating student who has demonstrated proficiency in practica and has made significant contributions to the Association's activities. Selection of the recipient is made by the School of Child and Youth Care and the Association's Victoria Region Executive.
CERTIFICATE OF OUTSTANDING ACADEMIC DISTINCTION IN THE FACULTY OF HUMAN AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT
A certificate of distinction and a prize of $300 is awarded to the student in the Faculty of Human and Social Development registered for the BA, BCYC, B.Sc, BSN or BSW degree who stands at the head of the graduating class on the basis of academic graduating average.
* THE CHUCK CURTIS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
A scholarship of $225 is awarded to a student proceeding to year three or four of the Child and Youth Care program who shows professional promise as indicated by excellence in Child and Youth Care practice (e.g., high achievement in practica coursework, notable contribution in volunteer/community involvement). Selection of the recipient is made by the Senate Committee on Awards upon the recommendation of the School of Child and Youth Care in consultation with the Professional Advisory Committee.
* THE ROBERT S. EVANS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIPS
Scholarships are awarded to academically outstanding students who intend to continue their studies at the University of Victoria as follows:
a. One scholarship to a student in each of the programs: Child and Youth Care, Nursing and Social Work, on the recommendation of the respective Directors;
b. One scholarship to a student who has completed the qualifying 300-level courses for an Honours or Major program in Astronomy;
c. Two scholarships for award within the student body at large. If no suitable candidates can be found in categories (a) or (b), additional awards can be made in category (c).
* THE WILLIAM AND GLADYS PARTRIDGE AWARD
An award of $150 is made to the graduating student in the School of Child and Youth Care who submits the best essay offering an original contribution to the theory or practice of child care. Essays must be submitted no later than April 30. If no essay reaches the required standard the award will be withheld.
